High Risk Obstetrics : A pregnancy is considered high – risk when there are potential complications that could affect the mother, the baby or both. We have a team of doctors to deal with such problems. We take care of patients with high blood pressure, history of recurrent miscarriages or advanced maternal.

The causes can be conditions you already have or conditions you develop. They also include being pregnant with more than one baby, previous problem pregnancies, or being over age 35.

If you have a chronic condition, you may need a specialist to monitor your pregnancy. Examples of common conditions that can complicate a pregnancy include:

1. Preeclampsia and Eclampsia- Preeclampsia is a syndrome that includes high blood pressure, urinary protein, and changes in blood levels of liver enzymes during pregnancy.If left untreated, the condition can be fatal for the mother and/or the baby and can lead to long-term health problems.
   Eclampsia is a more severe form of preeclampsia that can cause seizures and coma in the mother.
2. Gestational Diabetes Mellitus- It is a type of diabetes that only pregnant women get. If a woman gets diabetes when she is pregnant, but never had it before, then she has gestational diabetes.
3. Preterm Labor- It is labor that begins before 37 weeks of pregnancy. Because the baby is not fully grown at this time, it may not be able to survive outside the womb. Health care providers will often take steps to try to stop labor if it occurs before this time.

Infertility

Infertility is usually defined as the inability to get pregnant after a year of unprotected sex. According to statistics collected by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 6.1 million women between the ages of 15 to 44 have an impaired ability to have children, and 2.1 million married couples are experiencing infertility. The statistical study also found that 9.2 million women had made use of infertility services at some time in their life.

The definition of infertility can be further broken down into three groups:

Primary Infertility:

Primary infertility refers to women who have never achieved pregnancy in the past.

Secondary Infertility:

Secondary infertility refers to women who have achieved pregnancy and given birth in the past, but are now having difficulty conceiving.

Recurrent Miscarriage:

Women who experience recurrent miscarriages may also receive a diagnosis of infertility if they experience two or more successive miscarriages. While miscarriage is not uncommon (occurring in up to 25% of recognized pregnancies), less than 5% of women will experience two miscarriages in a row, and less than 1% three or more successive.
