EVERYTHING ABOUT MTP KIT

WARNING— Kit should always be taken under the guidance of  trained Gynaecologist. It has five pills, 1 of them is RU-486 & 4 pills are misoprost. The first pill (RU-486 or mifepristone) is taken on day 1 and after 48 hours, two of the remaining pills should be inserted in vagina (deep) and other two should be kept under the tongue (sublingual). You can expect periods/bleeding 3-4 hours following this.

Four pills of misoprost can cause rise of body temperature, sometimes even upto  102 degree Fahrenheit. It’s safe to take a tablet of Combiflam/Meftal Forte with it.

·       Shivering is a known side effect.

It is important to understand that the MTP Kit is more likely to work when the fetus/baby is small and has not yet become viable i.e. cardiac activity has not come.

·       Chances of failure are more if you have a history of previous 1 or 2 caesarian sections.

Warning—Try to take pills during day time so that in case of excessive bleeding you can visit your doctor.
